Today is an exciting day......we are headed for New York City....Weather forecast says SW winds....5 to 10 KT....Seas 2 to 3 Ft.....weather increasing this afternoon....we need an early start.....leaving on the rising tide at 6:40AM via the Absecon Inlet to the Atlantic Ocean....
Atlantic City still bright at 6AM
Golden Nugget still going strong
Absecon Inlet looking good
Well it was a good plan but there was fog out there.....oh me this is a new experience....Turn on the radar Captain.....put on your life jackets and start with one blast of the horn every 2 minutes and keep your eyes open.....we were running just outside the 3-mile boundary....smoother ride...
Another looper Allez left before us and were running inside the 3-mile boundary and were facing the same situation.....there was no wind and the sun was taking its time burning the fog off. So the trip was slow. The radar showed two blimps....barges.....so we moved out of their way. So thankful we upgraded our navigation system...
Our fog...glad it's not thick....thick....
Fog gone by 10AM and we are rolling on
Even ran 21.2mph with the swells
Big boat is anchored....strange
Shrimper with his wings out
Cargo Ship coming out of our NY channel
Fishing boat in the middle of the Ship Channel
New York Harbor is one of the world's busiest. Ships and barges are always on the move in and out of the harbor, anchoring and docking at piers along the Hudson River. We are traveling north through The Narrows into New York City, with its five boroughs, 8.2 million residents and one of the world's finest natural harbors. Most of the marinas are found on the New Jersey side of the harbor in Jersey City with Ferries making the trip on a regulaar basis back and forth to Manhattan.
Today is not a clear day.....sorry to say.....

The 110 miles took us 8 1/2 hours and other than the fog the trip went well. We will say good-by to the Atlantic Ocean and salt water as we head up the Hudson River.
Facts today......we are 268 days.....have traveled 3685 miles.....with 408 hours on the engines.....at an average speed of 9.03 mph.
