Ralph arrives at 8AM and he and the Captain trace the port engine from the helm to the engine room trying to find the problem.....they find several loose connections and hopefully the one on the sensor on the transmission neutral switch is the one giving us the problem....something like that....
We pay our bill and choked but they did give us free dockage since we were in for repairs and we are off at 10:30AM
Buckhorn Lake to Bobcaygeon
They have a diving platform
Buckhorn Narrows
This is why you go slow
Nichol Island with lots of cottages
A clear run northwest through Gannon Narrows
homes line the Gannon Narrows
Lots of boat houses
This one has its own water slide
and into Pigeon Lake which reminded us of Kentucky Lake
A sharp turn to port to Big Bob Channel
Cottages line the channel
Lots of boat houses
Lots of toys
Pretty
Not every day we see an American Eagle
The tie-up walls at Bobcaygeon are very popular especially on weekends
But this is Thursday
Here comes one out of the lock
Lock tenders help him park
Bobcaygeon is built on three islands, and Lock 32
passes right through the center of the village
Lock 32 Bobcaygeon Mile 138.2 with a 6 foot lift
Busy place today
Folks want to visit...You're from KY???? How did you get here???
Off we go through a narrow channel for the next 2 miles
House with its own island
Second Island with its own house
Coming into Sturgeon Lake
Cottages line the lake
Imagine your own seaplane
And the beautiful home
We exit Sturgeon Lake at Fenelon Falls
A public beach
I like what I'm seeing
Lock 34 Fennelon Falls Mile 153.6 with a 24 foot lift
This one runs into the wall
The lock tenders here monitor loading with great care regarding space and safety. Just because you are in first place on the blue line, don't expect to necessarily load into the lock first. Rental houseboats might load first for safety reasons....yes, there have been houseboats that end up sideways, wall-to-wall in the lock. This requires lock tenders to scramble down the slimy ladders to unwedge them.
Flowers on the bridge
Trip to the Grocery Store
Cottages across from us
We are on the East wall with 30 amp and water....new in 2012.....The wall is full
And yes....the Port Engine worked like a charm all day long...
