Beautiful day....departure at 7:45 AM....Today we cruise the Cape Fear River for almost 10 nautical miles when we reach Snows Cut. Cape Fear Inlet is well-marked and is one of the three stable seaward channels on the entire North Carolina coastline. Commercial vessels come in here to go to Wilmington.
Sunset last night
Charming river village of Southport
Homes on the Cape Fear River
Lots of Ferries in this area
Docks for the Ships coming into the area
Coming thru Snow Cut....very skinny water
Carolina Beach is a crazy-quilt collection of beach homes, condos and motels. This section of the ICW is fairly sheltered. We are in a dredged channel with marshes, small inlets and ocean; then homes on the mainland. Between Carolina Beach and Wrightsville Beach is Masonboro Island but no one lives there.
Tugboat moving Pipe
The Sound is lined with homes on mainland shores
Carolina Beach Inlet where the pipe is going
Interesting homes
How about a blue Condo with blue groundcover
Strong cross-currents depending on tide
Wrightsville Beach 20/ft. bridge opens ONLY on the hour
On the mainland shore
Figure Eight Swing Bridge....we can clear this one
Shotgun house
Long walk to the end of his pier
Now this is a homemade shrimp boat
We are staying at Harbour Village Marina which is private but they will accept transients if they have room and they do. They have floating docks and since we are not sure of the North Carolina Tidal range we stop here for Saddi.
