Stm 804 has an interesting story....the waterway, then called the East Coast Canal, originally took a sharp 90-degree turn at G1. Seems President Herber Hoover was transiting the canal aboard the presidential yacht Sequoia when it made the abrupt turn at G1, Hoover was thrown from his chair. As the story goes, Hoover shouted, "Someone ought to straighten out this damn curve." So they did!
