Off to town this morning to return the golf cart, visit the museum and make our rounds of Front Street and Back Street.
The Wyannie Malone Historical Museum is open today......and is worth visiting.....The settlement at Hope Town was founded in 1785, in part, by a widow from South Carolina named Wyannie Malone. Wyannie along with her three children started a dynasty in Hope Town that spread the Malone name through the Bahamas over to Key West.
They were into shipwrecks known as "salvaging" for their livelihood. They would intentionally mislead ships onto reefs to reap the treasures in their holds....can you believe that...

Hi!
ReplyDeleteI am currently working on populating the Bahamas Geotourism website (www.bahamasgeotourism.com) points of interest directory with descriptions and photos. Do you mind if we use photos from your site here http://nanseann.blogspot.com/2013/04/day-171-apr-3-hope-town-marina-abacos.html of Wyannie Malone Historical Museum?
Of course you will be credited, just let me know which name to put on the credits.
Would appreciate the help.
Thanks much,
Nekia
