Day 30-31 Nov 13-14, Palafox Pier Yacht Basin

The city of Pensacola lies on the north shore of Pensacola Bay.  Nicknamed the city of "five flags", it has a rich history, picturesque old downtown area and many historical forts in the area.  The US Navy is a major employer in this area and the Pensacola Naval Air Station is home to the Blue Angels.

There are two MUSTS when you visit Pensacola....The National Museum of Naval Aviation at the Pensacola Naval Air Station is known throughout the nation for its collection of military aircraft dating from the earliest Navy plane to the latest jet fighters.  You can spend days there and we have in the past.  Too far this time for bicycles.
Second is Joe Pattis Seafood which Rik and I discovered last year.  You take a number when you go in the door and when it is called....a clerk is assigned to you as you move around the market.  They will explain what kind of fish you are seeing....purchase is packed in ice and then you can visit the bakery section and specialty foods section....well you know me...I could spend a day here too.

The boys walked to the post office (12 block walk) and Saddi and I walked the historic district and water front.

Our area

Palafox Pier Yacht Harbor is Pensacola's newest marina and is protected by a break water.

The front has moved on.  YEA!!!!!  Days have warmed up....winds have died down....time to tackle the Choctawhatchee Bay which can be choppy when the winds blow.

Call from "The Coach" from Pier 11, Green Turtle Bay Marina and he is playing golf at Sandestin Baytowne complex.  So...we are booked into Sandestin Baytowne Marina tomorrow afternoon.  Beer on Dave!
