Day 18 Nov 1, 65 miles Sumter Landing Anchorage

We left at daylight with Lady KK in the lead.  Last Resort and Boot Scootin followed with the Nanseann bringing up the rear.  40 degrees!  You needed your winter coat!!.  But Rik had on his North Face from Jamie and Rick sooooo he was happy.  I bet I have mine on tomorrow...

This is a BIG day for Saddi as we will anchor tonight.  It is a two day trip to Demopolis Yacht Basin (119 miles).  Saddi will experience her "green" grass on the back of the boat.

First lock today was Stennis Lock with a 30 foot drop.  It took us over an hour to load/unload the lock.  The lock was full and it was COLD.  I was glad to have gloves...needed toe warmers

We met the Janice Tyson and passed on the two whistle.

Something is waking me up

Well what is this

Second lock came 27.9 miles later...Bevill Lock and Dam.  Again a 30 foot drop....alittle warmer but we still had the bridge closed up.  This is the last lock for the day.

Coming Out

Warming up.....colors are pretty....houses along the waterway disappeared when we got to Alabama.  We did see some cows.  Gerald said he had never been to this part of Alabama....well, I don't think anyone else has either.....

Think we are still in MS

Please call

Anchorage tonight will be Sumter Landing, one of the Corps of Engineers' public use recreation areas.  Know why it's called Sumter Landing????  It's in Sumter County according to our Alabama resident.

Boat Scootin Anchored Last Resort hooking up

There goes the Lady KK

The anchorage was wonderful.  Boot Scootin was the first boat in, anchored bow and stern so the rest of us could tie up.  That way we could visit and get to know these folks.  Dave and Dianne are from Canada so well as Freya and Don on Last Resort ( we met them our first day on the loop).  Larry and Sherry are from Texas on Lady KK.
We tied up to Last Resort and Saddi got to meet their kittens.  She watched them closely.
But no "green" grass....no dinghy....I'm stubborn....

Pretty

Another shot of Sumter Landing
