Day 29 Nov 12, 30 miles Palafox Pier Yacht Harbor Pensacola FL

Departure 9AM....cloudy....winds were calm....rain expected this afternoon....we had a window...our 4 hour trip would be made at idle speed....lots of civilization....lots to see

Wharf Marina office

Wharf Complex

The Captain said "Let's Go!".  The ICW is protected until we reach Pensacola Bay.  But again we are on the inside of the Gulf Islands National Seashore with only one inlet.  Lots of naval restricted areas on Pensacola Bay.  You have to stay in the channel or the "Navy police" will get you.

Good-bye Wharf Marine.  We had a good time.  Rik and I have explored the Orange Beach/Perdido Key area by motorcoach as I have said.  In fact we were here last winter at the Heritage RV Resort so it was delightful to see the area by water.

I'm ready to go again

Bear Point

Looking at Terry Cove Orange Beach

Dophins played in our wake.  They talked to us....still too fast for the camera.

There are 3 Dophins playing

A few Million for Ono Island

Between Orange Beach and Perdido Key

Looking at Perdido Key

Perdido Key RV Resort....we stayed here when they opened their doors several years ago.  It is right on the ICW by Perdido Key Bridge.

Stayed on Front Row so we could see the Towboats

Oyster House...good place

The ICW is well marked and its a good thing....you need to stay between the red and green or you will find some very skinny water.  Both sides of the ICW is lined with homes

When we enter Florida you have civilization on one side and The Gulf Islands National Seashore on the other.  You can hear the Gulf waves.  No Thank You I'll stay on the inside.

State of Florida

Gulf Islands National Seashore

As you enter Pensacola Bay you cross the Caucus Channel an inlet coming in from the Gulf.  Quite a current...Saddi went to the floor....the Captain took us thru.

Yes we are going thru

Caucus Channel to the Gulf

Pensacola Bay Lighthouse

We followed the channel into the Inner Harbor to Palafox Pier Yacht Basin....docked....and in about an hour the rain came and the weather became COOLER.....OK bring out the sweatshirts again....

Well we are staying here until the front moves thru.....all the way thru.....

We are downtown Pensacola...lots to see and do....City Life....Highly recommend this marina.  Rik and Don stayed here in 2010, hired a cab to do their shopping.  They had to walk to the nearest restaurant.

Jaco's Bayfront Bar & Grill

Don there is a new restaurant on property....Jaco's Bayfront Bar & Grille.
Interesting meals...Gerald had pork tenderlin with Balsamic/Honey glaze....Rik had Grouper Tocos and Nancy had a Island Seafood Flatbread( like a pizza...flatbread with seafood, pineapple, peppers, bacon)  Must make one of these...

You will need your blanket tonight.  Fay called as was expecting 30 degrees in Huntsville...They low 40's for us.
