Jim and Claire are coming to visit from Birmingham..
Lunch out at Harvey's which has won Mississippi Tastes Awards. It was VERY good. A visit to Tennessee Williams' house that has been turned into the Welcome Center....AND....a driving tour of the antebellum homes in Columbus. I didn't have to recite the columns Julie/Jamie...
Jim did slow down so I could get a picture or two.
Ready for Halloween
The right size for Miss Claire
Too big for me
RoseDale
RoseDale is considered one of the finest examples of Italianate architectures in Mississippi. It is out on the river...one of Jim's favorite.
Columbus is known as the hospital town during the American Civil War so many of the antebellum homes were spared, making its collection second only to Natchez as the most extensive in Mississippi.
The nation's Memorial Day originated in Columbus when, after the war, women of the town decorated the graves of both Confederate and Union soldiers. The Union soldiers have been returned to the North.
Fun day catching up with Claire and Jim....plus they were kind enough to stop at the Super Walmart so we could stock up.
Back to the marina....alittle "beverage" for the road and they were off for the @129 miles ride home.
