Day 19 Nov 2, 54 miles Demopolis Yacht Basin, Demopolis AL

OK for Miss Saddi and the "green" grass.....Rik took her to the grass....I took her to the grass...took her again in the middle of the night.....NOTHING.....
The next morning (24 hours later) she finally christened the "green" grass.  She looked at me, turned around twice and finally ------------- Thank Goodness
The Vet was right....they will go....sure was hard on us tho

Nanseann first to leave

Cereal morning......we were up, ready and gone by 7:30AM.  Saddi had a smile on her face.  Beautiful waist high fog on the water known as "Indian Ghosts".

Departing

Indian Ghosts

Heflin lock was waiting for us...the only lock for us today...another 30 foot drop.  Nightingale followed us in and DOWN we went.

Down we go

Temp @ 50 degrees...sunny...just beautiful....as we say "Can't get any better than this!"

Came to two high bridges.  One was named for Willaim Gorgas, the man responsible for eradicating mosquitos in the Panama Canal zone.  (wonder what he could have done with lovebugs and the green "headed" bugs in GA).  The other was a railroad bridge but the area is known as The White Cliffs of Epes.....very impressive with the fall colors from the Black Cedars and Pines.  We were all taking pictures when the Joe Cain barge came around the river bend.  He was impressive too.  Just love barges!!!!!

We are also traveling with Lady KK our leader....but Larry is long gone.  He has traveled this riverway many times and likes to have the wind in his face....Sorry Larry and Sherry no pictures of the Lady KK.

The White Cliffs of Epes

Beautiful Fall colors on the Cliffs

Just Beautiful

Started seeing Spanish Moss in the trees....we are going south....very warm now. Very few homes or people along the riverway. Gerald said he's never been in this part of Alabama....really don't think anyone has.

Daymark 225  We are exactly halfway between the Tennessee River and downtown Mobile.  The Tenn-Tom is miles of water, trees and sky with a cow every now and then.

Half way

Mile 217 This is the mouth of the Black Warrior River.  We could have turned to our port and headed for Tuscaloosa and Birmingham.  Next time.  At this point we leave the Tennessee Tombigbee Waterway and enter the Black Warrior-Tombigbee Waterway.

Black Warrior River

Mile 216 Demopolis Yacht Basin.  We have a three day reservation at the Kingfisher Bay Marina which is brand new....it shines!  Laundry at the end of the dock, golf carts with keys to go to the New Orleans Bar and Grill and the other marina.  Saddi has real green grass and a place to take me for walks.

Dinner at the New Orleans Bar and Grill.....Thanks Gerald...Catfish was good...the Bang Bang Shrimp...and Seafood Pasta...plus alittle Merlot made a very nice evening.
