We are glad to be off the Mississippi
We have about 60 miles of the Ohio River to travel with two locks and dams. Red markers are on starboard (LDB) and will now be on our right as we are going upstream. The Ohio River is wide and not as deep as the Mississippi. It isn't muddy with whirlpools.
heavy commercial traffic
Barges and Tows everywhere
Marion is 54 miles from here
The new Olmsted lock is currently under construction
Projected completion date has been moved to "indefinite"
But will replace Lock 53 and Lock 52 someday
