Day 329 June 17 Antique Boat Museum Clayton NY

Clayton is home to the Antique Boat Museum.  I could have packed the Captain's lunch and he would have spent the day.

The museum is considered the largest and the most impressive collection of inland recreational boats in the world.
It traces the development of wooden recreational craft through its collection of more than 300 boats, 300 outboard motors, other marine engines and related nautical memorabilia.

Atosis the rare 100-year-old raceboat in original condition

George Boldt's luxurious 107-foot houseboat, La Duchesse was commissioned in 1903.  The boat does not have an engine.....just its own barge to push it around on the river.
The giant houseboat was intended to provide the family with a comfortable place to live on water while their Heart Island chateau was under construction.  The residential accommodations on La Duchesse were extremely spacious and comfortable.  The first level had a large full-service kitchen with an eating area, and two cabins with bathrooms for the staff.  On the same level was a large, formal dining room with a working fireplace made of marble and bronze.  A center hallway led from the dining room to seven guest staterooms and four bathrooms.  The upper level featured a grand salon with a Tiffany glass skylight, a Steinway piano and the master stateroom, which included a bathroom, an office and a porch.  The salon opened onto a magnificent screened in promenade deck that measured fifty by twenty feet.
