Day 300-301 August 10-11 Waterford Harbor Visitor Center Waterford NY

Waterford is situated at the junction of the Mohawk and Hudson rivers as well as the Erie and Champlain canals.  It played a vital role in the American Revolution and industrial boom of the 19th century.
In the 1600s this area was a center for Indian trading, and by the 1800s it was a hub for the Adirondack timber trade.  When the canals opened, barges headed east to New York City and west to Buffalo and the Great Lakes lined up to get through Waterford.
