Cruise boat from Albany

The serenity of the upper Hudson River disappears as we get close to Albany.  Seagoing ships are unloading their cargo at the Port of Albany.
In  1851, 15,000 Erie Canal boats and 500 sailing ships cleared this port.  Albany, the capital of New York, has a 4-5-foot tidal range, even though it is 144 miles from the ocean

We were following Mediterranean Sea (200 feet) when we lost our steering and the wind was coming up and the Captain had to steer the boat using the engines.....What the hell!!!!  Called Sea Tow to come get us.....they do not have a Sea Two or Boat US in the Albany area....would take Sea Tow 1 1/2 hours to get here from Kingston.....Captain worked on getting the boat out of the shipping channel and into an area called "Turning Basin" so we could drop the anchor until we could get a tow.  Lucky for us Port Security had been listening to us trying to raise Sea Tow and warn the Tour boat that we were having problems.....and he called the Albany Marine Fire Unit who happened to be on the river......

Here they come in their brand new boat ($500K) that was delivered last night....Grant from Home Land Security

Turning Basin that Mediterranean Sea just used with a tugboat's help...where is ours

Tugboat going back to help the next ship...not us

The boat has been in the water 2 hours....plastic still on their fenders

Very exciting...as we were their FIRST CUSTOMERS

Tied on and they are taking us to the Albany Yacht Club...glad we have reservations

Calling the Chief, TV station...sorry we're having problems but this great publicity for them

They still have delivery captain on board.....they are just learning to operate the boat

They get us in on a long wall on our port side....and come in for their TV interview

Fire Chief, 2 reporters, Dockmaster,Yacht club members,  and head of port security.....The Captain was interviewed by the TV station....Saddi and I stayed on the Bridge....wind blowing....white caps...going to be fun and we have a port tie....."green" grass for Saddi....a scotch for the Captain and a glass of wine for the mate.....for sure!!!!!

Off they go as they are presenting the boat at 5PM....Thank You Very Much....our first to ask for help
