It is raining and the wind is blowing and we can't get Saddi off the boat at Pelican Marina. What to do??????? The Captain calls Lambs Marina which is 4 miles down the waterway to see if we can get into a slip where we can get Saddi to land. Yes the green grass works with Number 1 but not Number 2 if you get the idea.
Work it out guys
I'll just sleep until you figure it out
OK....they have room for us and the Marina is up Sawyer Creek so maybe the wind will not be an issue. Captain does a great job getting us out of Pelican Marina and the Bridge Tender tells us he will open the 2 foot Elizabeth City Bridge when he sees us. Light rain so all is good.
Elizabeth City Waterfront
Elizabeth City Bridge
Dockage at Elizabeth City is not Saddi Friendly
We travel the Pasquotank River
Some nice homes along the way
Norfolk Southern RR Bridge is open
No Trains today
Entrance...stay between the pipes...oh me!
Lamb's Marina...only fuel between Norfolk and Alligator River
The channel is 8 foot deep
The dockmaster, Dave meets us in the rain.....no wind.....stern into the dock....good job Captain and now figure a way to get Saddi off the Port Side from the swim platform. By this time Bill and Parky have come to help the Captain get the job done and Saddi waits while the project is discussed.
The ramp works and Saddi is a "Happy Boater"
We hang out and watch it rain but we are protected and the folks that live here are quite friendly. We will stay two days and let the rain move on. Plus since we will be traveling through the Dismal Swamp we want don't want "Dead Heads" floating around in the water.
The rain goes away and we borrow the courtesy car for a trip back to Elizabeth City so we can see the downtown area that all the guidebooks say is so "neat".
The Albemarle Sound Museum
Shag Boat
Marina Wharf....free dock w/o power and a "Rose Buddy" greets you
This would not work for us
Back on the boat....water in the Tower Garden....everything works
Seedlings are about ready to be planted
Lamb's Marina has it all. You see the "Diesel" Truck which pulls on the dock when you need diesel. Laundry is clean and their store has just about everything you would need. They are adding a restaurant/bar with a patio on the back. Yes we would stop again!
