Between Bahia Honda Key and Spanish Harbor Key is the original Florida East Coast Railroad Extension steel bridge. It is 5,356 feet long and has a clearance above the water of 65 feet. It was part of the Overseas Highway and when the road builders discovered that the part of the bridge where the tracks were laid was not wide enough for a two-lane road they had to build the roadway on top of the bridge structure. Kind of looks like a carnival ride and just think Fred and I rode across it in the old Ford. Of course today you can just look at it from the new bridge...

We went to Key West to be cleared by Customs. You go online and apply for your SVRS (Small Vessel Reporting System), then you have an appointment with the Customs officer, then you file a float plan and then you call an 800 number when you come back into the USA. I applied online and filled out the information for the Captain but did not get a confirmation number for myself.....and this must be done ONLINE.....so I had to call Jamie and have her put my information online and get me a confirmation number in order to use this system. Graham, the custom's officer was very patient with us......well the end of the story....when we come back into the USA from the Bahamas and Canada we just have to call them. Thanks Jamie!
Now at the airport not downtown
Skipper and Connie went with us to Key West so when we finished with customs we were off to see the sights. I'm sure Saddi and Shelby had their legs crossed because we were gone all day. Beautiful day by the way.....warm.....sunny.....not a cloud in the sky.....am I rubbing it in?

Needless to say the next day was quiet and we played catch up. We have 4 manatees that live in a canal across from us. This one came over to visit....you can see the scars on his back. They are so neat to watch.
