Day 93 Jan 15 40 mi City of Fort Myers Yacht Basin

We were up early......walked Saddi....ducks were still sleeping....and we were gone before breakfast.  Coffee on the bridge and down the Waterway.  Did fix the Captain a sausage/egg biscuit and of course Saddi something...  Good bye Cabbage Key!!!  We could see Useppa Island which is very private.  Would like to go there someday.

Lots of Dolphins today....playing...jumping and making lots of noise.  Saddi didn't like this and spent most of the trip under Captain's feet.  She wasn't impressed with their "playing".

We followed the ICW across Pine Island Sound.  On the port we could see Pine Island and on starboard we could see Cayo Costa Island.  Captiva Pass was smooth and we remembered driving to the end of Captiva Island and Sanibel.  We had wanted to go into Sanibel Island Marina but they were full.

So once we reached Green Marker 11 we cut across San Carlos Bay.  At the southeastern tip of Pine Island to mile zero is known as the Miserable mile.  Here the tide sweeps in and out and you have to pay attention.  Sea Tow just sits out there waiting to pull you off a sand bar.  The channel was full of boats ...every size and shape....guess they were on vacation...

When we reach Stm 0 we are at the end of the Western ICW.  When you get around Shell Point you are offically on the Okeechobee Waterway and in the Cocohatchee River.  The water color changes.

We pass under Cape Coral Bridge and see Cape Coral on port and Fort Myers on starboard.  Beautiful homes line the bay.   We are staying downtown Fort Myers at the Municipal Fort Myers Yacht Basin.  Fort Myers has really been working on their downtown area.....it is beautiful....and very safe to walk to restaurants and nearby sights.

This evening we are seeing Don and Freya fromThe Last Resort and going to a "Looper" Docktail party at the Legacy Harbour Marina.  Several boats are staying there.

We also walk down to Dock A on our Marina to meet Mike and Harrett.  They are from Marion and have been full time for several years.  They use to keep their boat at Galconda with Wendy and Coach and Tim and Janice.  We meet Bama and go back for docktails with their friends.

Busy Day....we are tired
