Day 166 Mar 29 Hope Town Abacos The Bahamas

Hope Town Inn & Marina has 50 slips, a on-site restaurant, pool bar and lodging.  It is new and a perfect spot for family and friends to join you.  We are on the west side of the harbor and our only way to the settlement is by dinghy or the shuttle boat provided by the marina.  The ferry driver will pick you up or drop you off if you are coming/going from Marsh Harbor.  Of course there are many mooring balls in the harbor (anchoring is no longer allowed).  Saddi even has green grass at the end of the dock and a path  to follow on her morning walks.

Until about 40 years ago, Hope Town had been all but isolated from the rest of the world and so preserved a distinct character.  Many local surnames date back through generations of seafarers and boat builders.  The village is remarkably serene.

We haven't seen many loopers in the Bahamas.  Tony and Shirley on Headquarters were in last week with their children.  They are from New Zealand.  But today we hit the jackpot....as we were untying the lines.....who should appear but Dave and Dianne on Boot Scootin.  We had traveled with them on the river system to Dog Rivers in Mobile.  They are Canadian and have been in the Bahamas since January.  Then another trawler appeared....Colleen and Matt on Gemini Dream.  They crossed their wake in December (I believe) at Clearwater and are from NJ.  We met them at the AGLCA Fall conference in Rogersville.  Both boats are headed toward Green Turtle Cay.  I know we will meet again.....

Our slip is vacant
